I loved this shoot and as a Hawke’s Bay Photographer I feel very lucky to be working with such amazing and talented wedding vendors as well as Gemma and BJ whose chemistry with eachother is simply off the charts! It was a moody and overcast day on the day of the shoot, so I decided to go with the soft light and worked with the olive greens, and blush and peach tones, with some splashes of gold on the beautifully simple cake from Ash. It was going to rain. The forecast had said it all week, and I had photographed a rainy wedding the day before so I felt like I was prepared for that. On the day of Neil and Pumudi’s wedding, the stormy clouds were there in the morning. Until they weren’t. As a Hawke’s Bay Photographer you feel you can count on the weather to behave, and for this day it did. I was really keen to do a great job for Neil and Pumudi. Pumudi is the sister of Thushan, one of my closest friends and who was my witness at my own wedding (I didn’t have a best man, but he would’ve been it). Pumudi looked so poised, elegant and radiant that I was really excited by the end of the day to see the photographs I had taken. It was a day of twists and turns, of beautiful light, and a beautiful bride and groom and it was close to my heart. I hope you enjoy a little slice of their day. I was really looking forward to Amber and Marno’s wedding, as they were such a joy to photograph on their engagement session. Going between the two houses was really neat, from the African/Dutch influence in Marno’s parents house to the typical kiwi house complete with motorbikes of Amber’s folks, it was fascinating. Amber’s dress was hand made by Marno’s mum, so not only was it stunning but was made with love and bridged these lovely families over and above the wedding itself. Hawke’s Bay Photographers get to experience some amazing light sometimes. Emma and Shane have been together a long time, and when the day finally came for them to be married, there was a palpable excitement for both of them. As the ceremony approached both seemed very nervous, but after the ceremony was over there was a calm, beautiful sense of peace that seemed to come over these two. They had finally tied the knot and were husband and wife. Meg and Kendal’s wedding was one that I have been looking forward to for a long time, ever since we had a really great engagement session on Te Mata Peak. I think for a Hawke’s Bay Photographer the winters can be pretty quiet, and I was certainly more than ready to spend the day and to kick off my wedding season with these two lovely people as they tied the knot. Meg’s dress was absolutely amazing, and with some blossoms and olive groves being just around the corner it was a great day to witness Meg and Kendal getting married. Rebecca and Shane were meant to be together. They have so many mutual friends, and one of Shane’s fishing mates is Rebecca’s dad! I loved their engagement session on Te Mata Peak, so I was really looking forward to this day. Linden Estate was a very Hawke’s Bay Photographer dream venue – a winery, with hills, and vines, and fields. With the grass starting to turn that Hawke’s Bay summer shade of yellow it felt very much like this wedding was emblematic of the region. I loved the colours in this wedding – from the flowers, to the grasses, to the vines, to the cars, those bridesmaid dresses and those blue Hawke’s Bay skies. It was a pleasure to hang with these guys on their special day.
